What is the CAS and why are there two appointments?

The visa process usually includes two appointments on different days:

  • CAS appointment (Applicant Service Center): your fingerprints and photo are taken, and your information is verified. It is usually a few days before your interview.

  • Consulate interview: a consular officer asks you questions about your trip or your job and makes a decision on your visa.
